“Dirty Little Angels” by Chris Tusa was really good. The story is centered around Hailey, a sixteen-year old who is desperately trying to save her family from seperaration and divorce…she tries to keep them together the best that she can, no thanks to the activities of her mom and dad. However, as the story develops, this act proves more difficult especially considering Hailey and her brother, Cyrus, and their connection with Moses, a self-proclaimed preacher of a drive-thru church who believes that some people have to go through hell before they can be saved. The ending is unexpected, though, not surprising considering the events leading towards the end.
Overall, “Dirty Little Angels” was really interesting. I enjoyed the way Mr. Tusa developed his characters, right down to their mannerisms, and how he made them work together to help the story come alive. I just wish the plot would have been more developed towards the end.
I give it 4 stars.
